Engineering has long been the most sought-after degree in India. To get admission in engineering colleges, candidates of top engineering colleges in Jaipur have to appear in engineering entrance exams after 12th. There are a number of engineering entrance exams are held in India every year – national level, state level and university level. Eligibility Criteria for BTech Mechanical Engineering

The eligibility criteria for Mechanical Engineering Courses are very much similar to other engineering specializations. Some of the general eligibility criteria includes the following:

  1. The students should have passed 10+2 with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) as compulsory subjects.
  2. Students should have secured a minimum of 45-50% in their board exams post which they are required to qualify any one of the national/state level entrance exams to get admitted for BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
  3. Candidates who completed polytechnic, a diploma program, can take lateral entry examinations and directly get admitted to the second year.

How to get Admission for BTech Mechanical Engineering?

Admission to BTech Mechanical Engineering course can be completed in two different ways. Students are sent through merit quota as per the scores in national and state-wise entrance exams. The cut-off for these depends on the college one chooses, the category they belong to, etc. Also, students are admitted to Private Engineering Colleges through management quota, seats of which are limited in numbers.

Thus, after the students have attended the entrance examination and the results are declared, universities and colleges will be announcing their cut-off to start with the admission process. Though the admission process varies from each top engineering college in Jaipur, there are some steps that one should go through generally to get admission:

The top engineering entrance exams 2021 are listed below for the reference of all the aspirants who wish to pursue engineering. These engineering entrance tests are highly popular to get admission in top engineering colleges in India.

1. JEE Main 2021

National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main in February, March, April & May. JEE Mains 2021 will mainly be held in computer-based mode. JEE Main is the admission procedure into the well-known colleges and institutes of the nation. More than 12 lakh applicants appear for this examination hoping to clear and reach JEE Advanced for admissions in mechanical engineering. The duration of the exam is 3 hours long and occurs in multiple choice format. The examination is separated into two papers – Paper 1 is for BTech/BE and Paper 2 is for BArch or BPlanning.


The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) will conduct the University level engineering entrance exam in online mode. BITSAT or Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test offers admission to all eligible applicants into the three campuses of BITS. Around 2 lakh applicants of best engineering colleges in Jaipur appear for this examination every year making it a very sought after the entrance exam. The duration of the online examination is 3 hours and the objective based BITSAT question paper is divided into four sections like Physics, Chemistry, English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning and finally Mathematics. Around 2,000 seats are available for admission.

3. MET 2021

Manipal Academy of Higher Education is highly responsible for conducting the annual online entrance examination for admissions into the right college or university. The Manipal Entrance Test is previously known as MU OET. It is basically a University level examination which bring in over 50,000 applicants per year. Admissions are provided in 16 engineering courses through MU OET and is open to all eligible engineering applicants. The entrance mechanical exam is held in online mode and is 150 minutes long. The questions are objective multiple-choice ones and the applicants will have to qualify this examination for admission into the institute.

4. VITEEE 2021

Around 5000 undergraduate engineering seats are available for eligible applicants under VIT Engineering Entrance Exam. The VIT University conducts the University level examination and around 2 lakh students appear for it each year. The mode of examination is online and will be objective in nature. Within the duration of 2½ hours, the applicants will have to solve 125 questions from some major subjects like Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Aptitude and English sections.

5. SRMJEEE 2021

The SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (SRMJEEE) is conducted by SRM Institute of Science and Technology for all eligible engineering aspirants. The online or computer-based test is held for admissions into the 7,000 undergraduate engineering seats available. The entrance mechanical examination consists of 125 questions and the applicants will have to qualify the exam for admissions into the University. Direct admissions are given to the top 1000 IIT JEE Rank holders along with the top rank holders of central and state board of examinations.


Admissions into the engineering courses offered by the Associations of Medical, Dental and Engineering colleges in the state of Karnataka is conducted by the Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK). The entrance examination is held across different exam centres in India. Around 20,000 BTech seats are offered for admission under B.Tech. The examination is 3 hours long and is based on the syllabus of the 10+2 standard. The applicants will have to solve 180 multiple choice questions to be eligible for admission.
