RTU Back Paper and Re-evaluation: Rules, Exam Form Process and Common Mistakes
Arya College of Engineering & I.T. says If you are failing in some subjects or you are willing to improve your marks at Rajasthan Technical University (RTU), Kota, then it is important to understand how things work for back papers, improvement exams, and re-evaluation.
Key terms in RTU exam notifications
- Back Paper/ Supply exam: It is a supplementary exam to clear those subjects that were failed, i.e., having grade “F” in the regular semester exam.
- Re-back exam: Another chance for those who have backlogs after appearing multiple times in back papers, usually done under special university notifications.
- Improvement exam: It is the opportunity to reappear in a passed paper and score better; marks obtained earlier will be cancelled.
- Re-evaluation: It is the process of getting your answer script checked again by new examiners.
- Answer book viewing: By paying a fee, one can view his/her answer sheet which was evaluated earlier.
When does a paper become a back paper?
A paper is considered a back paper in the following scenarios.
- If one gets an “F” grade in theory, practical, or any external part of a subject.
- If he remains absent from the external exam part, resulting in an “F” grade, making him eligible for the next back exam cycle.
- He has passed in internal/sessionals but failed in the end-semester exam (ESE); he has to give a back exam in such a subject.
Note: If “F” is there in internal (INT) parts only, then some universities/exams do not require a separate back exam form for it, but in the case of RTU Back Paper engineering back exams, normally any “F” in ESE/practical requires filling a back exam form.

How to study for back papers
