Language barrier faced by students in India

There are around 22 languages recognized in India by the constitution and 31 languages in which has recognized as the official status in India and the language are written in 13 different scripts, with over 720 dialects, in which 880 total no of languages in India are spoken by people living in India and there are around 420 million people in India who speaks these languages. In these languages the widely spoken language is English and Hindi. In these statistics the numbers of students who go for college are 18.2 million in 2007 and in that around 39% of are 18 to 24 year old and additional 4, 47,000 students were attending non-degree institutions of higher learning. Mode and medium of every student differs as they come from different backgrounds. So as the language they use differs and their understanding differs. Being a student’s the major problem faced by every students is language barrier as they belong from different places and background and the basic language used by all the staff are English. The all prevailing language in all the fields whether school, college or any tuition is English and Hindi but there are students who speak regional languages also. So what difficulty they face and what remedy us as a student and institution as whole is mentioned below. The basic problem comes for those students who come from Hindi medium background face these problems because the widely accepted language is English. It becomes difficult to understand the knowledge and they lack in learning so what institution can do which is beneficiary and is essential is that they can incorporate communication as language in engineering as well as other field of education. Language should never become a barrier for the people who want to develop their future and grab education. Education not only educates that person but educate the society as a whole. So it is the best solution that can be incorporated in all different field of education is adding communication as the subject which will enable student to get the further learning easily. Home Page
