How SOC boosts the skills of BTech College grads
There were the days when mobiles were luxury. Due to the high demand in the market, it led the manufactures to produce a new CPU. Smartphones are gone from single-core to nowadays Octa-core. The introduction of new technologies in the form of chips has broadened the way for BTech College grads. It makes use of a special technology system known as SoC OR System-on-chip.
What exactly is SoC?
SoC (System-on-chip) is the most common term in the industry, especially for the candidates of Computer Science Engineering at B TechCollege in Jaipur. It is an integrated circuit that combines all components of an electronic system into a single chip. Rather than implementing all the components separately like CPU, GPU, etc to make it compact manufacturers, it can implement the SoC and gain the benefits of it.
The two main manufacturing heads in the market of SoC (System-on-chip) are Nvidia and Qualcomm. And now Intel is also trying to establish in this field. All this SoC have a common component that is ARM.
What is ARM?
ARM or Advanced RISC Machine is a 32-bit microprocessor originally created by Acorn Computers in 1987. Since then, ARM has been the preferred microchip by any and all companies or the trainers of Top 10 Engineering Colleges in Jaipur who are experimenting for a cheap and low powered chip. Since ARM devices are licensable, all companies like Samsung and Apple choose the predefined design and frames it according to their requirement. But Qualcomm constructs its own custom CPUs rather than going with the crowd. ARM most popular devices are ARM v7, Cortex A8, etc.
SoC manufacturers or professionals of Engineering Colleges in Jaipur are using 32-bit SoC architecture (ARMv7) these days. But recently, Apple has launched its iPhone 5s with a 64-bit CPU which allows the manufacturers to use more than 4 GB RAM.
Three major SoC with 64-bit hitting to the market are:
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 610 and 615 - The new Snapdragon 610 and 615 chipsets are 64-bit quad-core and octa-core respectively.
- Nvidia Tegra K1 - The biggest advancement Tegra 4 is the inclusion of a Kepler based GPU with staggering 192 shades.
- Mediatek Mt6732 - It features four Cortex-A53 CPUs capable of running up to 1.5 GHz. It will also sport the new Mali-T760 GPU.
