CAT is an important entrance exam for candidates of Top MBA Colleges who want to pursue education and a career in management. It is one of the best and the toughest entrance exam that tests their abilities to analyse, calculate and use logic. These skills are pertinent in studying management. CAT 2021 is on the horizon. It is to be held across 156 cities in the country. While appearing for the exam this year, many questions may be on your mind. There are many frequently asked questions online. You must try and find answers to these questions so you are less anxious about taking the exam and are confident about it.

Who Will Conduct CAT 2021?

CAT 2021 is being conducted by IIM. There is a total of 13 IIMs spread across the country, and each year, one of the institutes is chosen to conduct the CAT as per their rotation policy.

Application process

Here is a step-by-step breakdown: –

  1. Go to their official website and click on the new user registration button.

  3. You will get a user ID and password on your email and phone number.
  4. Log in with your new user ID and go to the application form.
  5. Fill out the correct details, and upload a scanned image of your picture and signature.

  7. Once the payment confirmation comes through, you have successfully registered for CAT 2021.
  8. You can take a printout of your filled-out form by logging in through your user ID.

Fee structure

Candidates of best MBA colleges belonging to the general category have to pay a fee of INR 1900/, while students belonging to the reserved category (SC/ST/OBC) have to pay a fee of INR 950/-. These fees have to be paid online while submitting your registration form.

Course validity duration

CAT score validity is for 1 year only but a few institutes allow deferred admission. This means the institute can provide admission in next year’s MBA batch based on this year’s CAT score. However, this is purely at the discretion of the institute.

Necessity of CAT

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) can manage and organize the CAT exam and considers its scores for giving students admission. There are close to 1500 other institutes including top MBA colleges in India who consider CAT scores. But there are other entrance exams as well like CMAT, XAT, ATMA,SNAP, NMAT, etc. that are considered by other management colleges and MBA institutes. Therefore, it is not necessary to do CAT for MBA.

The Average Score In CAT

In CAT, students of private MBA colleges in Jaipur score in percentile. Percentile is confusing for some people. To simplify it, percentile depicts how many students have scored lesser than you. Thus, if they get 80 percentiles, this means 80% of the students who appeared for CAT scored lesser than you. Students with even 60 percentiles manage to get admission in decent management colleges.

Exam Eligibility

CAT is the Common Admission Test conducted by Indian Institute of Management for admission to their special MBA program. To be eligible, they need to have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university and their degree score should be equal to or more than 50%. Reserved category students should have a degree score equal to or more than 45%.

Importance of 12th standard

What you scored in your 12th standard does not matter for your CAT exam. What you score in bachelor’s degree matters a lot. If applicants of MBA Colleges in Jaipur are from the general category, they cannot have an average score of less than 50% and for the reserved category, they cannot have an average score of less than 45%.

To sit in the CAT exam after your 12th standard, graduates first need to enrol for a bachelor’s degree in a recognized university or institute. It will take them 3-4 years to get this degree, and only after they have scored more than 50% as their average degree score, can they sit for the CAT exam.

This is one of the toughest entrance exams in the country which tests their intelligence levels and other important skills. However, just like any exam, if they study and prepare well, they will score good marks and a chance to get admission in the MBA institute of their choice.

Number of required Attempts

There is no limit to how many times one can appear for CAT exam. The exam is conducted once a year and MBA graduates can take it every year. The only thing that matters is that they fit into their eligibility criteria.

Age Restrictions in CAT 2021

There is no age restriction on taking the CAT exam. Many professionals even take the CAT exam each year to test their skills and intelligence, or simply as a challenge. There are many CAT prep institute proprietors as well who take the CAT exam each year and use their scores as a means to attract students.
