Course validity duration

CAT score validity is for 1 year only but a few institutes allow deferred admission. This means the institute can provide admission in next year’s MBA batch based on this year’s CAT score. However, this is purely at the discretion of the institute.

Necessity of CAT

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) can manage and organize the CAT exam and considers its scores for giving students admission. There are close to 1500 other institutes including top MBA colleges in India who consider CAT scores. But there are other entrance exams as well like CMAT, XAT, ATMA,SNAP, NMAT, etc. that are considered by other management colleges and MBA institutes. Therefore, it is not necessary to do CAT for MBA.

The Average Score In CAT

In CAT, students of private MBA colleges in Jaipur score in percentile. Percentile is confusing for some people. To simplify it, percentile depicts how many students have scored lesser than you. Thus, if they get 80 percentiles, this means 80% of the students who appeared for CAT scored lesser than you. Students with even 60 percentiles manage to get admission in decent management colleges.

Exam Eligibility

CAT is the Common Admission Test conducted by Indian Institute of Management for admission to their special MBA program. To be eligible, they need to have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university and their degree score should be equal to or more than 50%. Reserved category students should have a degree score equal to or more than 45%.

Importance of 12th standard

What you scored in your 12th standard does not matter for your CAT exam. What you score in bachelor’s degree matters a lot. If applicants of MBA Colleges in Jaipur are from the general category, they cannot have an average score of less than 50% and for the reserved category, they cannot have an average score of less than 45%.

To sit in the CAT exam after your 12th standard, graduates first need to enrol for a bachelor’s degree in a recognized university or institute. It will take them 3-4 years to get this degree, and only after they have scored more than 50% as their average degree score, can they sit for the CAT exam.

This is one of the toughest entrance exams in the country which tests their intelligence levels and other important skills. However, just like any exam, if they study and prepare well, they will score good marks and a chance to get admission in the MBA institute of their choice.

Number of required Attempts

There is no limit to how many times one can appear for CAT exam. The exam is conducted once a year and MBA graduates can take it every year. The only thing that matters is that they fit into their eligibility criteria.
